Es importante aclarar que en este post no vamos entrar en detalle sobre los tipos de imágenes, sino más bien en los formatos que son muy diferentes.
Antes de iniciar con los formatos, es importante conocer como nosotros podemos saber el formato de una imagen, para eso debemos ver la extensión que esta después del nombre de la imagen, la cual corresponde a las siglas de sus formatos, por ejemplo: Imgcumpleaños.png.
Este ejemplo muestra el nombre de “Imgcumpleaños” con una extensión png, es decir, esa imagen contiene un formato png, pero ¿Qué es png?
El Formato de imagen PNG: Es un formato de comprensión de imágenes, el cual tiene como característica principal el fondo transparente, permitiendo colocar dicha imagen sobre un fondo u otra imagen, lo que nos permite ver parte de la imagen que está debajo, además, ofrece una excelente calidad de imágenes y un peso muy recomendable, pues es muy bajo comparado con algunos formatos.
Png son las siglas en ingles de Portable Netword Graphics.
Mientras que Formato de imagen JPEG: A diferencia del formato PNG, el formato JPEG no posee el fondo transparente, sin embargo, es el formato de imagen más utilizado en internet, su potencia se centra en la compresión del tamaño que podemos hacer con ella, reduciendo bastante el tamaño final.
Este formato es tan utilizado que nuestros celulares vienen con este formato predeterminado para tomar fotografías. Sus siglas son Joint Photographic Experts Group.
