Introducción al curso Latex para docentes
LaTEX es un lenguaje de marcado, que permite preparar documentos, tales como: artículos de revista, tesis, presentaciones, trabajar con fórmulas matemáticas, entre otros. Es muy utilizado para la producción de documentación técnica y científica.
En su sitio web definen LaTEX de la siguiente manera:

Vamos a realizar un ejercicio mental para comprender mejor el funcionamiento de LaTEX en base las definiciones que acabamos de leer.
Imaginemos que estamos escribiendo en un procesador de texto, por ejemplo en word y hemos escrito un título, y a ese título queremos darle el siguiente estilo; que esté alineado en el centro del documento, y que esté en negrita.
En un documento word, solo debemos seleccionar el título y luego clic en la letra N para ponerlo en negrita y luego clic en alinear en el centro. Genial con solo seleccionar y par de clic logramos darle el estilo deseado en el procesador de texto word, sin embargo, en LaTEX debemos usar la sintaxis de marcado para darle ese estilo o formato, recuerdas que al inicio definimos LaTEX como un lenguaje de marcado.
Veamos cómo podemos darle el mismo estilo a ese documento haciendo uso de LaTEX: Imaginemos que ya tenemos escrito el título y para alinearlo al centro escribimos lo siguiente: \centering
Ahora queremos poner el título en negrita, para eso escribimos: \textbf{Texto en negrita}
Se puede observar que LaTEX es muy distinto a un procesador de texto, por ejemplo: word y que para usarlo debemos tener cierto conocimiento sobre su sintaxis de marcado, pero descuida que en este curso aprenderás a usar LaTEX como todo un profesional en poco tiempo.
Sé que al ver el ejemplo de arriba te está preguntando ¿por qué no hacerlo en un procesador de texto?
